MICHELLE YOUNG
(Vocals)
“Since Adam and Eve were charged with tending the Garden of Eden, man has had the responsibility of caring for our world. Many cultures have revered and honored the land for its beauty and the sustenance it supplies, but in the age of industrialization, that respect has been altered by greed, ignorance, and apathy. The damage is happening faster than the earth can heal. I am honored to participate in this project, and pray it will raise awareness to help preserve our planet’s future.”
Michelle Young is a singer, songwriter, composer, and musician, whose vocal talent is well known in the world of Progressive Rock. She has a history in many styles of music, but when she met Fred Schendel and Steve Babb of Glass Hammer, she joined the group and performed on their albums Journey of the Dunadan, Perelandra, and Glass Hammer – Live and Revived.
After recording and performing with Glass Hammer, Michelle started a solo career with her debut album Song of the Siren (SOS) on her Naosha Records label. SOS showcased her penchant for experimentation with unusual instrument and recording methods, such as bowing an electric guitar, playing a flanged violin like a hammer dulcimer, and creating her own backward reverb.
Her second album, Marked for Madness, was produced and recorded with Clive Nolan in England, and mastered at Abbey Road Studios. Fans and critics alike were thrilled with the dynamic theatrical vocals and cinematic elements of the album, with Ian Anderson even posting about it on the Jethro Tull website. The high quality of musicianship included Doane Perry, Peter Banks, Clive Nolan, Stan Whitaker, and others, with Bobby Kimball contributing vocals.
Michelle has shared her vocal talent on several other progressive albums, including albums by Clive Nolan and Oliver Wakeman, Trent Gardner, Glass Hammer, and the Samurai of Prog.
