“In 2000 we had played with the band in Sarajevo, a few years after the end of the civil war in Bosnia. Some of the buildings had no rooftops; they were still destroyed and the houses were uninhabitable. Thousands of landmines …. still buried in the ground…We drove with the bus out of the city, just to stop at a wonderful deep, blue-green lake on the outskirts. Extraordinary woods, an azure blue sky, impressive nature all around…all…No! But in-between the trees there was a 50 meter wide and 500 meter long mountain of rubbish, coming down the hill like a steamroller. The population of Sarajevo threw all their garbage there, because at that time no trash collection was regular. I was shocked, and my first emotion then was fury. Today, when I look at the world, and listen to the news, my feeling is more a scared one, not because of me, more for the next generations. What did we leave behind? Fear can only combatted when the root cause is removed. My hardly-worth mentioning part for the UPF album makes me a little less afraid, and I hope the great music.and above all …the lyrics has the same impact for the listeners. Be brave, do something!”
